Malawi’s musical export Onesimus has credited spiritual father for Enlighted Christian Gathering (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri for his winning the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) best male artist/duo/group in the inspirational category.
Onesimus won for his song ‘Sound of Peace’.
In his acceptance speech he said: “Africa stand up. I wonna give a shout out to my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, I wonna give a shout out to my father Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, I wonna give a shout out to Motherland Entertainment, Major 1 Records and I wonna give a shout out to all my fans across the world, across Africa. This is something big for me.”
The singer who recently collaborated with Nigerian superstar Tekno for their hit song ‘FOYU’ is the second Malawian artist to win at AFRIMA.
In 2018, Hazel Mak bagged the dong but was not in the list this year leaving Onesimus to represent the warm heart of Africa.
A US$1000 challenge has been put forward by Onesimus for fans to grab over his news song ‘FOYU’ but details are yet to emerge on what it will be about and how the fans can get to win the money.
Congratulatory messages have already started rolling in with Major 1 Records saying Onesimus is touching live through his music.
