C-Scripture drops Sketchy Notepad album

Lilongwe based rapper C-Scripture has finally released his highly anticipated sophomore 'Sketchy Notepad' album.

Described as a deep and personal body of work 'Sketchy Notepad' touches on the personal as well as socio-political and economic themes.

Going into the details of the tape he said: "Sketchy notepad is where you put down initial ideas before perfecting them. This is a very deep album. It touches on my personal life as well as current events in religion, politics, social and economics. Am also being honest about my life as a Christian.

"Musically, the album is tackling issues that have happened in Malawian Hip Hop industry. For instance, I remember trying to bring together Third Eye and Black Isco. As far as Hip Hop is a competitive sport, we still need peace and unity."

The album has no feature and some songs don't have hooks deliberately because the messages are too deep and sometimes the hooks distract the listener from the actual message.

"I worked on Sketchy Notepad in a month. It was a month of deep reflection and honesty," he said.

'C-Scripture' was born on 5th June 1994 in Blantyre, Malawi and his first solo album was 'Before Grace' which was originally a mixtape then changed to an album but due to lack of funds and other inconveniences it was released as an Extended Play (EP) on 29 August 2011.

The project brought attention to the young artist in his home country with songs like Faith, Stay Back, Tha Streetz and Light A Fire.

On December 29, 2012 C-Scripture released 'Just To Let You Know' a nine-Track EP which was received with positive reviews both in Malawi and across Southern-Central Africa, with songs such as Just To Let You Know, Tell em [Fire] and Twilight being favorites.

C-Scripture has opened stages for UK's Jahaziel & Tru2DaName and Malawi's Gosple.

On his track-record, C-Scripture has featured Malawi's Hip-Hop legend Perfect Marvel currently based in Washington DC in the US, Isix5's Omri from the US and Malawi's local favorites Lawi, Liwu, KBG  and Jeremiah of Nyali Muzik.
