Hip Hop artist Phyzix says it is about time his talent and contributions to the industry were recognised. He was reacting to his getting seven nominations at the recently announced Malawi Hip Hop Awards.

Phyzix said: “It's exciting. I am humbled and encouraged. Fifteen years active in Rap. 2005 till present. Give me my flowers.”

In an interview with Kulinji.com Phyzix said he is only getting started and there is more  to come from him.

I have been very outstanding and some People can't accept that. I work very hard on every part of my craft and these are the results. Can't they see that I'm top of my game in every aspect of me being an artist? And I am just getting started,” he said.

Out of the 15 categories, Phyzix has been dominated male artist of the years, album of the year, best verse of the year, hustler of the year, Hip-Hop live performance of the year, song of the year and collaboration of the year.

Other artisits in contention and have more nominations include the Daredevils brothers who put out their DareDevil For Life album. They have a total of six nominations for best duo, best verse of the year and producer of the year.

Hayze Engolah and Suffix have five nominations each and are vying for hustler of the year as well as lyrical award. The Wave, Seven O More, Third Eye and Quest are also in the mix after getting four nominations each.

Toriah, Luki, Princess Multikey, Tiya Joan and Mitchie are gunning for the crown of the best Hip Hop queen while the DJ battle sees Nathan Tunes, Flame and VJ Ice battling it out as RJ and Dj Shorties fight it out in the female category.

Malawi Hip Hop Awards has given lifetime achievement to veteran Kenny Klips for his contribution to the Hip Hop industry in the country.

Voting will start soon according to the Awards Manager Nthangwanika Kondowe. The format, once it starts will give fans a minimum of one vote per day until it closes.

This is the first year for Malawi to have a fully-fledged Hip Hop awards and it has been organised by Gwamba.

Due to the COVID-19 situation the event will be held online and on television.
