Ntopwa pluck Eagles' feathers

Ntopwa FC, TNM Super League 2019

Blue Eagles have beeen treated to a 3-1 demolition by a tough-rookie side Ntopwa at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.

This is Eagles' first assignment in Blantyre as they face another-league contender, Nyasa Big Bullets on Sunday at the same venue.

Woes started on Wednesday for the Lilongwe-based cops after going down 2-1 to a bottom-placed Masters Security in the capital city.

On Saturday, just like a joke, Mphatso Magaleta opened the scoreline from the penalty spot for the Amaghetto Kids before Hendrix Misinde and Josaya Duwa followed suit.

It was John Malidadi junior who scored a consolation for the third-placed Eagles.

Ntopwa now look safe outside the relegation zone, having reached position 11 with 29 points from 28 games.

The Eagles were looking forward to securing their place on the log table as they are four points behind second-team Be Forward Wanderers.

Dropping six points in two consecutive games puts them in an awkward position since Silver Strikers, currently on position four has the same points with Eagles and is also playing on Sunday against Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium

While they have all played 27 games and also playing on Sunday, the cops should pray for their win against Nyasa Big Bullets, while Silver should be defeated by KB if they are to maintain that spot.

The Bullets match will not be a walkover for Eagles since the hosts are gunning for the title against archrivals Wanderers who are also in action against Dwangwa United on the same day.

In other games played on Saturday, Mlatho Mponela had a fair-start of their Northern Region tour as they held Karonga United to a two-all draw at Karonga Stadium and will face Chitipa United on Sunday.

Misheck Selemani and Gule Mwaluswa put the host up before Eric Kaonga and Precious Chipungu equalised.

Mlatho are still 14th on the table with 23 points from 27 games, while Karonga is 10th with 34 points from 26 games.

Moyale also came from behind to hold Civil Sporting Club at Civo Stadium.

Gastin Simkonda levelled after Muhammad Sulumba scored first for the host.

Civil Sporting is fifth on the table with 41 points from 27 games, while the Mzuzu-based soldiere on position Eight with 38 points from 26 games.
