The battle for the golden boot for the TNM Super League has began as Silver Strikers’ hitman, Maxwell ‘Phodo’ Gasten now occupies top spot having netted eight goals so far to dislodge Red Lion’s Royal Bokosi.

Bokosi is now two goals behind, on the same spot with TN Stars’ Stain Dave.

On Monday, Gasten inspired his team to retain the league top spot after netting a hat-trick in their 4-0 victory against TN Stars.

This was his second hat-trick in the league this season.

With only 10 games played and 20 more remaining, the former Mzuni FC star stands a chance to surpass the 21-goal record set by Khuda Muyaba in the 2019 season.

Kulinji.com failed to get Gasten’s reaction and aspirations as Silver’s Communication Officer, David Dauda said the company policy does not allow players to speak to the media.

“With the scope you want to pursue it won’t be possible to have that story or speak to Phodo,” he said through a  Whatsapp conversation.

Meanwhile, the Bankers top the league table with 22 points, two above second-placed Civo Service United.

Other players who have managed to send the ball back of the net several times include Zicco Mkanda, Henderson Misinde, and Clever Kayira with five goals each.

Lanken Mwale, Patrick Macheso, Hassan Kajoke, Peter Kasonga and Chiletso Zoya share four goals each.

Nine others namely Duncan Nyoni, Zeliat Nkhoma, Potipher Likoswe, Arthur Moffat, Zikani Kasambara, GAstin Simkonda, Mphatso Magaleta, Muhammad Sulumba, and Chifuniro Mpinganjira has been lucky to score three times each.
