The 2020-2021 TNM Super League top goal scorer, Hassan Kajoke has said he is already planning for next season’s golden-boot award.
The Nyasa Big Bullets forward banged 15 goals topping the scorers’ list which was for a long time dominated by Silver Strikers’ Maxwell Gasten.
Gasten was a first round wonder, as he failed to net more in the second round to go beyond the 13 goals.
By Saturday, the last day for the league, Kajoke and Gasten were at par with 13 goals each, but the Bullets forward netted two more, one from the spot to give his team a late winner against Karonga United after trailing 2-0 in the first half.
Speaking after the match, Kajoke said he was excited to win the golden boot award, even though that was below his target.
“Last season I scored 17 goals, and I wanted to go beyond that this season. However, it must be understood that I had some injuries that affected me. Otherwise, it feels good that I still managed to win the award. Right now, I am already eyeing next season that I should do well and surpass this year’s record,” he said.
Last season, Kajoke was third on the scorers’ chart as Khuda Muyaba, formerly with Silver Strikers managed to score 21 goals.
This means this year’s top goal scorer has failed to break his own last season’s record, and is even seven goals short of Muyaba’s.
