Malawi and South Sudan on Thursday signed a Memorundum of Understanding to jointly explore opportunities to promote trade and investments between the two countries.
Under the MoU, Malawi will among other things start exporting products such maize, maize flour, sugar, rice, groundnuts and beans.
South Sudan will be exporting products such as petroleum and bitumen to Malawi.
The MoU was signed by the Minister of Trade, Sosten Gwengwe MP and Kuol Athian Mawien, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of South Sudan.
Also present during the event were, Secretary for Trade, Ms Christina Zakeyo; Ms. Kanayo Awani, Managing Director for Intra-African Trade Initiative at Afreximbank and senior officials from the Governments of Malawi and South Sudan.
