High Education Students Loans and Grants Board (HESLGB) chief executive director Chris Chisoni has been arrested.
National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera asked for more time furnish us with information.
Our sources within the Police could not disclose the charge of the arrest at the time of publication.
Chisoni in 2018 was embroiled in an abuse of office scandal which got the nation furious when HESLGB coughed up a whooping MK17 million to pay EE & A Enterprises of Lilongwe for printing diaries and forms.
Around that time hundreds of students eligible to get loans to for their University of Malawi had failed to access loans and some of them withdrew from studies on financial grounds.
According to a payment voucher we have seen signed by Chris Chisoni who is the Executive Director of the Loans board, EE & A Enterprises has been paid K 17,165,120.00 by cheque number 001780.
