The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has on Thursday arrested 15 more government officials suspected to have taken part in the abuse of COVID-19 funds.
This brings the total number of the arrested to 61.
Five of the arrested officials are from Blantyre City Council.
They include Richard Chakhala, Director of Finance.
Ten others are the Ministry of Information officials most of them from the accounts department.
They also include Alick Kampeza, a Civic Education Officer.
The suspects will answer charges of theft by public servant and fraudulent accounting among other charges.
James Kadadzera, Public Relations Officer said MPS detectives are still on the ground and more arrests will follow.
