Police warn illegal custodians of government vehicles

Malawi Police Service has warned all persons in possession of government vehicles to submit them to police forthwith to avoid embarrassment.

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) said in a statement that through its Anti-motor vehicle theft unit is following up on all government vehicles currently in custody of illegal persons.

“It has to be noted that the unit has a list of all government vehicles and is following up on them,” reads the statement signed by James Kadadzera.

This has come to light as the police arrested a bodyguard to former president, Professor Peter Mutharika on Tuesday in Lilongwe.

The bodyguard, Dabble Dissi was arrested on allegations of theft of a government motor vehicle, Toyota Prado TXL Registration Number BW 687.
