Man arrested for stealing Escom cables in Chiradzulu

Escom cables have landed 43-year-old man, Justin John in police custody for alleged theft.

John is alleged to have stolen a 1,800 metres long cable valued at K5,400,000.00.

Sergeant Innocent Moses, Public Relations Officer for Chiradzulu Police station said John was arrested on September 8 2022 at Namala Village in Traditional Authority Mpunga in Chiradzulu at around 11 am.

Moses explained well- wishers from Namala Village alerted their chief that John was keeping ESCOM cables in his house.

After hearing the news, the matter was reported to police whose officers and ESCOM security personnel searched and found the cables in John's house, leading to his arrest.

John comes from from Mwendayekha Village in Traditional Authority Mpunga in Chiradzulu.
