Muslim youth United (MYU) a grouping of young Muslim from various professions has raised close to MK20 million within a week.
The money will go towards the fight against COVID-19 as Malawi battles its second phase of mobilising resources.
In an interview one of the founders of the grouping Dr Hussein Twabi of College of Medicine said they thought it prudent to assist in mobilising resources for the COVID-19 response as the nation is overwhelmed with the numbers of people infected and affected.
The money will be used to purchase oxygen flow meters and other necessities needed in the COVID-19 fight.
Twabi applauded various stakeholders who have donated money and some medical equipment to the grouping.
Muslim youth United is working with Blantyre District Health Office and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) on the initiative.
