Virtual Tech, system development company has been commended for supporting the Basketball Association of Malawi's Trivia Challenge on its online platforms.
The competition aims to encourage interactivity in the face of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which has disrupted sporting activities.
On Friday, the first draw took place at National Sport Council where five people each won K20,000 in cash; 30 got T-Shirts while 10 people will receive masks.
Basmal vice president Banthali Munthali said the aim of the quiz competition is to civic educate basketball fans and Malawians on the novel pandemic COVID-19 from the comfort of their homes.
So far Malawi has recorded 3,453, with recovered at 1,373,deaths are now at 87.
The Basmal Vice President added: “We promise more exciting things as we go ahead.”
Basmal's director of marketing and resource mobilisation Blena Chisenga who conducted the draw urged more companies to come in and help the Association in its drive.
Chisenga said so far, two companies, Virtual Tech and ICT Works have supported competition: “We are encouraging more partners to come in to the challenge."
He disclosed that 85 people answered one or two questions correctly out of the four questions, 15 people got 3 questions correct and 31 people answered all questions correctly.
The draw was conducted automatically to ensure the is not doubt in the process in which it is done by avoiding human intervention as the algorithm selects winners randomly.
Names of those who have won will be published on Basmal social media pages and they are encouraged to inbox their details, numbers of contacts and their locations.
