Football Association of Malawi (FAM)'s director of communication, Gomezgan Zakazaka has announced that he tested positive to the novel Coronavirus.
Zakazaka made the announcement through interviews with some local radio stations on Friday.
"It is true that Iam Covid-19 positive, the testing process was done as part of the contact tracing protocol following a positive case in our household, unfortunately my result came out positive on Wednesday evening.
"Currently, I have gone into isolation as advised by health personnel at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) where the tests were conducted. I am not showing any signs and symptoms, but the outcome subjects me to a 10-day isolation as a precautionary measure to avoid spreading it to others," he said.
The former MIJ FM and Nation Publications sports reporter the urged those who were in contact with him to go for a test.
Recently, some players from big teams in the TNM Super League as well as senior national teams tested positive for the virus and recovered to return into their respective clubs after isolating.
There has been an upsurge of Covid-19 cases in the country with over 10, 000 people confirmed positive since last year.
