Moyale Barracks Football team general secretary, Major Dennis Flao Mwale is the new Super League of Malawi (Sulom) vice general secretary.
Mwale was elected at the Sulom's Annual General Meeting in Mangochi on Sunday and replaces Zachariah Nyirenda who was dismissed some months ago for financial misconduct.
According to the votes, Mwale got 23 votes against former Nyasa Big Bullets' Executive Director, Escort Chinula's 21.
The third contestant, former Silver Strikers official, Mike Chimdidi Tembo got only four votes.
Apart from the elections, the AGM discussed a number of issues including Television rights for games beamed.
The delegates from the clubs also wanted the current sponsors to raise the package, to which Sulom president Tiya Somba Banda said the discussions are at an advanced stage and will see the two signing a lucrative deal soon.
Ntopwa FC owner, Jomo Osman also raised his issue of special consideration for relegated teams to remain in the league since their dismal performance have been caused by several factors including Covid-19.
But Sulom general secretary Williams Banda stated that is a constitutional matter which needed to have an Extraordinary General Meeting for delegates to discuss it, and if they agree to that, then it will be effective next season, including the issue of having playoffs for relegated sides.
The delegates have agreed to have another AGM in February next year.
