As a way of searching for the problem rocking them in the TNM Super League, Chitipa United have turned to coach Alex Ngwira for answers.
The Northern Region-based league outfit is the only side that has not registered a win this season, lying bottom of the table with a single point from five games.
The team’s general secretary, Duma Ngoma, who retained his seat during last week’s election said in an interview on Tuesday that they have done everything possible, including talking to the players, but no change.
Ngoma however said they are still looking for ways to discover the winning formula by engaging the coach on Tuesday afternoon ahead of their Central Region fixtures weekend.
“It is a big shock and embarrassment to the executive and the entire community. Much as we intend to discipline the players and technical panel in several areas that need attention, we are trying all we can to motivate the boys outside and in inside the field of play. We are trying to reinforce and instill love, dedication and fighting spirit in our boys. We believe God has heard our crying and enough is enough.
“Our next intervention is the meeting with the coach today [Tuesday] to find put the problem so that together we can come up with a solution,” he said.
Fondly called Inkharamu izgaku Chitipa (Lions of Chitipa) the team is one of the five teams from the region after surviving the 2019 season.
Chitipa is one of the league teams with no sponsors.
Last year, they had to set a taskforce to fundraise funds buy a Coaster to ease their transportation problem.
As a way of sustaining themselves in the league, the team also resolved to go commercial by selling some merchandise, including replica jerseys.
