Nomads supporters’ GS finally accepts dismissal

Barely days after indicating he would not accept the idea of suspending him from the post of general secretary for Mighty Wanderers supporters’ committee, Sam Mponda has finally accepted the call to leave.

Wanderers supporters fired Mponda and chairperson, Mervin Nkunika over what they described as failure to manage the fans.

After the news broke, Mponda posted on his Facebook page that the supporters have no mandate to fire him since the team is now run as a company with a board of directors where he also sits.

But one of the directors, Humphreys Mvula denied their involvement in the matter saying they do not interfere with supporters issues.

Mponda then took it to his Facebook page again to announce that he has accepted the suspension.

Finally, I have accepted the dismissal. You can now call me the former general secretary for the Mighty Wanderers Supporters Committee. The will of the supporters must be respected. We all love the team!!! Maybe the change can bring the results expected, who knows,” he said.

Following the development, the vice chairperson, Denis Chitsulo has now taken over the mantle and will be deputised by Witness Kanyemba.

Peter Mvalo who was one of the committee members, is now the acting general secretary while Charles Andrew and Kennedy Khemos mantains the vice general secretary and Treasurer posts.

Dalitso Robert has been elevated from being a committee member to the position of vice treasurer.

Sam Chiwaya, Cecilia Kananji, Chimwemwe Njaya, a Mr Chisale, a Mr Mpaha, a Mr Komboni, and a Mr Vuma remain committee members.
