TNM Super League new entrants from the Northern Region, Rumphi United have started preparations for the season, with the latest development being the hiring of Chistopher Nyambose as head coach.
Nyambose, and club’s general secretary, Jones Mockton have confirmed the news.
In an interview on Tuesday, Nyambose, who was the immediate past coach for relegated Chitipa United said he has already resumed work and is conducting trials for new players.
“Being a new team in the elite league, I know I have a very big task. It is like there is no team and I have to build it from scratch by grooming the players. At the moment, I want to work much with the players that got the team promoted into the Super League because I have seen that they have good players. Of course, I will beef with other players from Premier League teams from as far as other regions who are here taking part in our trials, including others from some Super League teams,” he said.
According to Mockton, Nyambose, who also had a stint with Karonga United and Mzuzu Escom, will be assisted by Jimmy Butao and has been offered a two-year contract.
Butao guided the team from the SIMSO League but does not possess the minimum CAF B license as per the requirement of the FAM club licensing.
Winston Katenga Kaunda, who was Butao’s assistant, is now Team Manager.
Nyambose is a CAF A licence holder, on top of some short-term coaching courses he has attended outside Malawi.
