After football stakeholders, including supporters complained about Super League of Malawi (Sulom) awarding only Player of the Season in the TNM Super League, the association has sourced other prizes to carter for more outstanding individuals.
Sulom president, Tiya Somba Banda confirmed with the local media that they have partnered with a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) called Ana a M'mudzi to award six plots worth a total of K3.6 million to the outstanding individuals.
The categories include Best Coach, Best Defender, Player of the Season, Best Midfielder, Best Goalkeeper, and Top Goal scorer.
According to Banda, the plots, which are located in Lunzu, Blantyre, will enhance entertainment in the league through the motivation given to the players.
"It's true that we have secured plots in Lunzu which will be awarded to outstanding players and officials over the period we have been discussing with a number of potential partners on co-sponsorship.
"I am pleased to inform the public that Ana-a Mmudzi and other well wishers have come through to co-sponsor the individual at the end of the season awards by giving out plots to the top performers," Banda explained.
Spokesperson for Ana aMudzi, Dorothy Kachitsa also confirmed to the local media about the development.
Last season, Nyasa Big Bullets’ Chimwemwe Idana was named the Player of Season and walked away with a Mazda Demio as a prize.
