Volleyball is back?

Most sporting codes in Malawi have been inactive due to COVID-19 restrictions that do not allow gatherings of more than 50 people.

It appears volleyball teams have taken advantage of the fact that its play involves a team of six to organise some friendlies.

On Sunday, Lilongwe Spikers travelled to Malawi's commercial city of Blantyre where they played against Thunders. The hosts won the hard-fought encounter three sets to two (3-2).

In the women's event the hosts Gemz and Blazers failed to match up to the visiting Vixens as they each lost in three straight sets (3-0).

The Blantyre teams attributed their loss to lack of fitness owing to lack of training due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
