Urban youths and creative industry lovers will have a chance to watch this year’s Urban Music People (UMP) live following a partnership with Mibawa Television on Wednesday to beam the annual awards ceremony set for December 19, 2020.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the organisers of the event announced they will hold a virtual event and this essential meant no physical presence.
According to the partnership Chitoliro production will produce the content which will be aired on the Televisions premium platforms including DSTV.
UMP’s Ausa Kamanga said not having music, fashion lovers in physical presence is costly for business but they have to prioritise health and asked for sponsors to partner with them pointing out their products and services beamed along the ceremony.
Kamanga said they opted for Mibawa because they have shown they are very supportive of youth-oriented issues and are innovative in live beaming.
Chawezi Banda who was representing Mibawa Television acknowledged not having urban people converged at one place is going to be a difficult experience as most people are used to being there live but everyone must adapt to the new norm.
“We saw that it is very important to partner with UMP; with the coming in of the COVID-19 things haven’t been the same. The question is should we stop everything, perhaps do nothing?
“So, we are coming in to give UMP the platform as we are giving our viewers 360 coverage; DSTV, Zuku, Starsat, Gotv and on Facebook on our own app. Our 360 tilt will give an advantage to UMP awards and more specifically the urban youth when it comes to promotion of this creative industry,” Banda said.
Banda highlighted that even though we are faced with COVID-19 but we can virtually allow viewers to appreciate what is happening in arts and fashion.
The two said their partnership will continue in the foreseeable future and assured viewers they will be no hiccups during the live stream.
