MAFCO boosted by Zikhole’s return

Malawi Defense Force TNM Super League side, MAFCO FC says they expect a huge boost ahead of their return into the league following the return of their right-back Zikhole Ngulube.

The former Evirom FC is in the Democratic Republic of Congo for peacekeeping mission and expected to return anytime soon.

Despite the league yet to kick-off due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, MAFCO media officer, Van Crayton said in an interview that the experienced star will be a motivation to the team.

“Right now the players are just reporting for their normal duties as soldiers. We had some guys who joined us after finishing their military training and now we expect the freekick specialist and right back Ngulube to jet in. We also received Stain Malata, Jailosi Kapalamula, Paul Phiri and Saidi Mtekama before the season was about to begin in March and that was another boost to our team,” he said.

He added that the maturity brought by Ngulube and his consistency in attacking will help MAFCO be a formidable force in their quest to win the league in their year of return.

“He is a pillar to MAFCO FC, but there will be a great competition for the right back position because Vitumbiko Phiri, Yamikan Mponda and Dingiswayo Banda are also good there. So regardless of the coach’s decision to have Ngulube in the first eleven or not, competition will be there for the place,” he added.

The Salima-based soldiers’ side were relegated to the Chipiku Premier League in 2018 but managed to bounce back after a season of hardwork.
