Blantyre-based Super League outfit, Ntopwa have reinstated an eight-week ban on its four players who flouted coronavirus (COVID-19) sports guidelines.

Some three weeks ago, Ntopwa imposed a suspension on captain Happy Masamba and vice Mphatso Magaleta, Jowado Kanjuzi and Mark Lameck after featuring in a local game around Bangwe Township in the city.

The team’s director, Isaac Jomo Osman has confirmed that the four sought forgiveness from the team’s executive committee.

“They have apologised, they wrote a letter and the management considered their request. We have just advised them to put up effort and work extra hard to retain their places in the team as the league kicks off.

“They have learnt the lessons because as players they need to be aware that they are bound to rules. Every club has its rules which players must adhere to. We need discipline in the team,” Osman said.

Ntopwa survived relegation in their maiden league appearance last year.

They will kickoff this year’s campaign with a match against Moyale at Chiwembe Stadium on Saturday next week.
