Silver Strikers FC’s Maxwell Phodo Gasten must pull up his socks if he is to keep his golden-boot award dream alive, as Nyasa Big Bullets opponent, Hassan Kajoke has closed in on the title too.
For some time, Phodo, with 12 goals to his name, has had his teammate, Stain Davie as a contender with eight goals.
But following Kajoke’s hat-trick against Ntopwa on Wednesday, he has taken over Davie’s place taking his tally to 10 goals.
Phodo has been unlucky to score in the past three games to stretch his lead.
At some point, his manager told the media that he was failing to score because he was psychologically disturbed for being left out in the Malawi national team squad by coach Meck Mwase.
According to the manager, he deserved to be part of the squad considering his current form in the TNM Super League.
Stain Davie still has eight goals to his name, followed by Ntopwa’s Hendrix Misinde, Nyasa Big Bullets’ Zicco Mkanda, and Muhammad Sulumba of Civo Service United at seven goals each.
Royal Bokosi of Red Lions, and Ekwendeni Hammers’ Clever Kayira have netted six times each.
Seven players, namely Patrick Macheso, Chrispin Mhagama, Chifuniro Mpinganjira, Chiletso Zoya, Lloyd Njaliwa, Emmanuel Muyira, and Misheck Bottomani have scored five each.
Duncan Nyoni, Binwell Katinji, Taniel Mhango, Mphatso Mgagaleta and Lamken Nyoni have managed to send the ball behind he net four times.
