
Bankers Association of Malawi (BAM) has announced the return of the Bankers Sports Day on May 28 at the Kamuzu College of Health Sciences (KUHES) Sports Complex in Blantyre.
According to BAM Chief Executive Officer (CEO, Lyness Nkungula, this year’s event returns with a bang as they have full list of sporting activities.
“Some games were left out in the previous year due to COVID-19, but this time we have all games available to both members of the bankers and non-members. This has been done deliberately to enhance our relationship with the non-bankers who are our customers. The day also gives an opportunity to bankers to network while fostering the teamwork spirit among themselves,” she said.
Nkungula however indicated that only those that are fully vaccinated will be allowed to participate in the games.
Vice chairperson of the organising committee, Carol Magola said this year there will be individual games like sack-race, egg-race, golf, cycling, and athletics.
“Individuals will compete in the 100m race, while cyclists will start off at Mibawa in Limbe to Thyolo road covering 60 kilometres for men, and 40 kilometres for women up to the starting point,” she added.
Unlike cyclists, football and netball games will take place at KUHES, while golfers will converge Blantyre Sports Club.
The theme for this year is Trusted Energetic Banker serves the Customer well”.
