First Capital Bank (FCB) has joined the corporate world in supporting the Presidential Charity Golf by providing K20 million.
Handing over the cheque to members of the Charity Golf committee in Blantyre on Friday, FCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Spiro Gorgeopolus said as a bank, they felt the need to support the cause especially that it impacts the youth which is one of their main focus.
"It is our duty to uplift the communities in which we operate in. Our ethos and core values are aligned to good citizenship and serving the underprivileged.
The Presidential Charity Golf is in line with our corporate social responsibility philosophy and purpose to serve in areas of education, health and the environment. We understand the funds raised at the event will be used to assist needy tertiary students and Cyclone Anna survivors," he said.
Representing the Charity Golf Organising team, one of the members, Chimwemwe Chimwaza said they feel honoured by FCB's gesture.
"We have received tremendous support towards the course, and to have FCB join the initiative is so pleasing considering that this will go a long way in ensuring that the mission of the Golf Tournament to raise funds for the needy is achieved," he said.
The Presidential Charity Golf is set for October 8 at Longer Golf Club.
Recently, the committee set a K200 million target to be realised from the initiative.
