Netball officials, players, fans, umpires re-united again on Monday, not because there was a tournament, but to pay their last respects to Tigresses defender, Cathy Yikwanga.

The place was Mwakasungula village in Karonga.

It was a moment of sorrow as none could control their tears as they rolled down their cheeks.

Yikwanga died on Saturday at Kamuzu Central Hospital after a brief illness.

The netball family were pallbearers clad in their jerseys and Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) cloth.

Tigresses coach Peace Chawinga Kalua said they had lost a versatile player who was an asset to not just to her team but to the nation as well.

Malawi national netball team and Blue Eagles Sisters' Takondwa Lwazi described Yikwanga as a talented and committed person to the game.
