All roads lead to Katoto and Rafik courts in Mzuzu starting Friday morning when teams will battle out for the 2021 Raiply National Volleyball Championship.
Twenty teams from across the country will compete for the championship which is sponsored by Raiply Malawi as part of sensitisation process against wild bush fires in Viphya and Chikangawa forests.
The qualifying teams, comprising 10 ladies' and men's sides started the championship with a parade in Mzuzu City.
Volleyball Association of Malawi (VAM) general secretary, Daniel Mwakasoko said all is set and teams are ready to roar.
“The exciting moment is here once more, people from all walks of life are now very aware of the games that start on Friday here at Katoto Sports Complex in Mzuzu,” Mwakasoko said.
From the team's distribution, Southern and Central Regions have provided six teams each whereas Northern Region, being the host, has contributed eight teams.
Defending champions, Moyale will play in the opener against Karonga Spikers.
K700, 000 awaits champions in each categories, while runners-up will cart home K300, 000.
Third placed winners will pocket K200, 000, and K100,000 will go to teams that will finish fourth.
Individual best performers including best spikers will also be awarded at a function to be held at Grand Palace Hotel on Sunday.
