Over 20 people escaped unhurt in a Matours bus inferno in the wee hours of Thursday in Karonga district. Karonga police deputy spokesperson, George Mulewa confirmed of the incident saying the Matours bus registration MN 4386 driven by MCdonald Kumonda was coming from Lilongwe and reached Karonga at around 4am. Mulewa said upon arrival, the driver of the bus noticed there was fire in one of the bus‘s rear tyres and he quickly offloaded the passengers and their luggage before driving the bus away from the depot where it completely caught fire.
