Leadership is a two-way traffic between the leader and the people they serve and not a servant/master relationship, former President Joyce Banda says.

Speaking in an interview with Kenyan radio and television personality Caroline Mutoko, the former President noted that leadership is a love affair.

“You fall in love with the people you serve and the people fall in love with you. That means that if I love you, I will protect you will all my life. And I will not allow anybody to exploit you. And I will not anybody steal from you. And I will pay any price to demonstrate to you that I love you,” she said when asked about her view on leadership.

She added: “Leadership can be practiced at all levels. What it takes is for you to make a decision to reach out and touch another life.”
